What is WildSilkbase?

WildSilkbase is a BLAST searchable catalogue of expressed sequence tags (ESTs) generated from several tissues of wild silkmoths at different developmental stages. Currently, it is provided with a total of 60,000 ESTs derived from 3 major wild silkmoths, Antheraea assama, Samia cynthia ricini and Antheraea mylitta. Users can search the database either by BLAST query, keywords or Gene Ontology query. There are options to carry out species, tissue and developmental stage specific searches in BLAST page. A set of unigenes for each species is appended to the database, which is again BLAST searchable. Other features like, cSNP discovery, homologue finder and SSR finder are also offered in WildSilkbase. Further, the database is provided with information on wild silkmoths, web links to other resources on silkmoths, EST construction, characterization and analysis methodology and a tutorial. The database will be updated periodically whenever fresh data on wild silkmoths become available.

Funding:-
Financial support for Antheraea assama and A. mylitta EST sequencing projects is from Department of Biotechnology, Government of India to J. Nagaraju.
The EST sequencing of Samia cynthia ricini has been supported by Grants-in-Aid from MEXT and JSPS (Japan) to Toru Shimada, and by the Collaboration Program for Scientific Research between DST (India) and JSPS (Japan).
