She was Scientist (Plant Breeding) at ANGRAU since 2001and continued till she joined CDFD in October 2007. Her research interests at ANGRAU included castor breeding, genetics and biotechnology in addition to transfer of technology. She was involved in release of two varieties of castor namely, Haritha and Kiran. She has also developed a castor hybrid, and two pistillate lines. As Principal Investigator of Andhra Pradesh - Netherlands Biotechnology Programme funded project between 2004 to 2006, she established biotechnology lab at RARS, Palem and pursued research on genetics of race specific resistance to Fusarium wilt; and linked molecular markers to wilt resistance genes. She isolated three recessive mutants of immense value as genetic stocks; and developed three RIL (Recombinant Inbred Line) populations.

Her transfer of technology activities included radio talks, television programmes and popular articles in magazines and newspapers in addition to training activities. She was resource person at round table meeting organized by South Asian Biosafety Program (SABP) on behalf of International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).

At CDFD she has the responsibility of providing assistance to the Director and the Centre in various Science Administration matters including inter alia: preparation and the dissemination of the Annual Report and other Scientific Reports; Organizing meetings and symposia; looking after arrangements for visitors (ranging from distinguished scientist to school students) to the centre; interacting with the press and other media; liaising with agencies that provide grants-in-aid for Centre activities; maintaining and updating the Centre's Web Pages; and serving as the Co-ordinator for activities related to Research and Development Consultancies, Contract, or Services as well as to Intellectual Property Matters.
