Dr. G.V.Rao (Dr. Gudalore Venkateshwar Rao) holds  a Degree in  Biological Sciences from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He  is a  topper in M.Sc. from  the Department of Criminology and Forensic Science,  Sagar University, Madhya Pradesh. He joined Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Hyderabad and  worked at  the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad  for his Doctoral work in Forensic Aspects of DNA Fingerprinting. He continued his work in DNA fingerprinting as  a Postdoctoral student with Dr Lalji Singh at CCMB. Dr. Rao developed DNA markers during his work at CCMB. He has  an experience of  around 13 years in  the area of case work pertaining to DNA fingerprinting. He at CDFD examined   cases  from  all over  India, UK, USA, New Zealand, Mauritius,  Nepal  and  other  neighbouring  countries.   The  cases  referred   were  for  establishment  of   paternity / maternity, identification  of  mutilated  dead  bodies, establishment  of  biological  relationships for immigration, organ transplantation and property inheritance matters, Identification  of  missing children and  child swapping in hospitals, Identification of rapist in rape cases, Identification  in murder cases, Species  identification in wildlife poaching cases, etc. Apart from laboratory work, he is also an authority  on appreciation of  DNA evidence in  the Court of  Law. He also specializes in drafting of arguments pertaining to DNA testing for the benefit  of  Judiciary. His work in forensic wildlife was awarded as the best paper in the Conference of the International Association of Forensic Academy, New York in 1999.

Dr. Rao has handled and reported over 1000 cases, mostly criminal cases.

Dr. G.V.Rao has been invited to deliver lectures on DNA Fingerprinting to Police Officers, Judges and Law Students.
