The genetic diagnostic laboratory at
Centre for DNA
Fingerprinting & Diagnostics offers a comprehensive clinical diagnosis
of genetic diseases (cytogenetic, biochemical and molecular).
The centre offers prepregnancy counselling and pregnancy screening
programs for the detection of high risk pregnancies for chromosomal aberrations.
The centre offers prenatal diagnosis for
detection
of chromosomal abonormalities, single gene disorders and inborn errors
of metabolism. CDFD also conducts newborn screening for inherited metabolic
disorders.
In addition to providing genetic
diagnostic services, the laboratory
carries out research work on molecular pathophysiology and mapping of genetic disorders.
