CDFD, an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, invites applications from Indian nationals for the following purely temporary vacancies of Project Associate, Research Associate, Project Assistants and Technical Assistant in research projects funded by the DBT, DST and ICMR. The description of the position, minimum qualifications and emoluments are as detailed below:

Project Associate (for a DBT funded project):

  1. Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in any branch of modern biology (candidates who have submitted their thesis will also be eligible to apply). The experience during Ph.D. should be demonstrated by publications in high impact Journals.
    OR

    M.Sc. (any branch in Life Science) with two years of experience in Molecular biology / biochemistry.
  2. Desirable Experience : Molecular biological techniques such as experience in Cloning, PCR based mutagenesis, RT-PCR, Plasmid isolation etc.

    Emoluments: Rs.8,000/- + HRA

Research Associate (for an ICMR funded project):

  1. Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. OR 3 years relevant post qualification experience after M.Tech.
  2. Desirable Experience : Sound in the field of Molecular biology / immunology prefeably transcription research and signal transduction pathways.

    Emoluments: Rs.11,500/- + HRA

Project Assistant-I (for a DBT funded project):

  1. Minimum qualifications: M.Sc. (Comp. Science) / M.Sc. (Medical Informatics or Clinical Informatics), M.C.A / B.E. (Comp. Science) / B.Tech (Comp. Science) as well as profiency in relational database development and management, knowledge of datawarehousing and HTML/XTML.
  2. Desirable Experience : Working knowledge of some biological / clinical / medical databases

    Emoluments: Rs.10,000/- (Consolidated).

Project Assistant-II (for a DST funded project):

  1. Minimum qualifications: B.Sc. in any Life Science subject plus Diploma in lab / medical technology (or any other related diploma)

    Emoluments: Rs.6,500/- + HRA

Project Assistant-III (for a DBT funded project):

  1. Minimum qualifications: M.Sc. (Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or any other branch of Life Sciences)
  2. Desirable Experience : Plant Fingerprinting techniques (like microsatellite markers and AFLP), Biomolecular manipulations / Molecular biological techniques such as experience in Plasmid isolation, cloning, Real Time PCR, etc.

    Emoluments: Rs.9,200/- (Consolidated)

Technical Assistant (for an ICMR funded project):

  1. Minimum qualifications: M.Sc. in Biotechnology. Preference will be given to candidate having research experience on transcription biology and/or signal transduction pathways.

    Emoluments: Rs.6,830/-

General Terms and Conditions:

  1. For the above mentioned posts, candidates should not have completed the age of 35 years. The age limit shall be reckoned as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
  2. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
  3. Depending on the qualifications, experience and recommendations of the Selection Committee, the selected candidate may be placed in a scale and designation lower than the grade advertised/applied.
  4. The positions are purely temporary and is initially for 1 year. The tenure of appointment may be extended/terminated depending on the continuation of the projects.
  5. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Ex-servicemen/Physically Handicapped persons will be as per the Govt. of India rules.
  6. Mere fulfilling the minimum qualifications will not entitle the candidate for being called for interview. The applications will be screened by a Committee and candidates found suitable will be called for test / interview. The decision of the Director, CDFD will be final in this respect and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
  7. The selected individual may, from time to time, be assigned any other duties by the Director, CDFD commensurate with their qualifications / experience.
  8. The Director, CDFD reserves the right to suitably change/relax any of the above conditions. He also reserves the right to accept or reject any application without assigning any reason.
