CDFD is an autonomous institution supported by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and is engaged in providing services and carrying out basic and applied research in the areas mentioned below. CDFD is a Sun Centre of Excellence in Medical Bioinformatics, the India Node (EIN) for the European Molecular Biology network (EMBnet) and Asia Pacific Bioinformatics Network (APBioNet).
